For a manufacturer of plastic pipe systems and other products Stevens Engineering – within the SKS partnership – developed a test installation for testing these systems. It tests connections of plastic pipe systems with rubber sealings for leaktightness in conformity with NEN-EN 1277 (Test methods for leaktightness of elastomeric sealing ring type joints). The test installation concerned is a flexible installation for pipe diameters from 110mm to 315mm inclusive.

The circumstances under which the leaktightness is to be tested include:

  • internal negative pressure (vacuum);
  • a low water pressure (0.05 bar);
  • a high water pressure (0.5 bar).
  • The mechanical load is performed by means of angular rotation and flattening.

In only five months, the entire machine was designed, built, tested, and turn-key delivered.
